Executives, Committee Members, and Board Members are all involved in selecting which projects to receive funding. Executives are WUSTL students who organize the funding application rounds, events, and internal communications of the SSF. Committee Members are WUSTL students who shadow and assist the Executives; after one year as a Committee Member, he/she is eligible to run for an Executive position. Board Members are faculty, staff, and Student Union officers who guide the students and provide crucial input during the application review process.



Amanda Lin

Amanda's profile photoAmanda Lin is a junior from Shanghai, China double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Finance, with a minor in Energy Engineering. She is passionate about renewable energy, clean technology, and efficiency improvement in a variety of fields. She is most interested in the intersection of business and technology-enabled applications in the energy sector, and is furthering her passion by interning in the related fields. Amanda has been with SSF since her freshman year and she’s excited to continue working with such an amazing team to bring more green ideas to life! In the meantime, Amanda has been very involved in various sustainability groups and events. She also serves as Professional Outreach Chair of Society of Women Engineers, and is an Engineering tutor on campus. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys road cycling, dancing, traveling, cooking and taking care of her lovely kitties.

Audrey Liang
Undergraduate Treasurer

DSC_0441Audrey Liang is a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wisconsin double majoring in Economics &  Strategy and Environmental Policy. Her interests lie in creative problem solving and finding unique opportunities to integrate business and sustainability. Aside from SSF, she is the vice president of organization for Ellevate women’s business club, is on the leadership team for Each One Teach One, and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Her hobbies include playing tennis, traveling, and coloring.

Rett Hooper
Graduate Treasurer

Copy of DSC_0633Rett Hooper is a senior from Nashville, Tennessee who is staying at Wash U an extra year to complete his Chemical Engineering major and his MBA. He cares about the environment and solving problems, and he wants to make the world a greener place in his future endeavors. On campus, Rett is also a captain of Contra Men’s Ultimate and a member of Sigma Nu. His hobbies include sports, traveling, and exercising.

Nancy Zhao
Internal Communications Chair

Nancy's Prof PicNancy Zhao is a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri double majoring in International & Area Studies and Chinese and minoring in Music. She loves working with a diverse group of students and faculty in making green initiatives come to life. Aside from SSF, she also plays violin in the Wash U Symphony Orchestra, serves as secretary and co-concertmistress of WU Pops, blogs for WUSTL 360, and is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Her hobbies include music composition, binge watching shows, and instagramming food.

Emily Bluedorn

Emily Profile photoEmily is a sophomore from Dallas, Texas who is studying marketing and design, and is passionate about the opportunities to incorporate sustainability into both fields of interest. Outside of SSF, Emily is an assistant editor for the on-campus fashion magazine, Armour, and a member of Delta Gamma. Her hobbies include painting, exercising, and watching movies.

Marissa Lerner
Public Relations Co-chair

Marissa's Profile photoMarissa Lerner is a freshman from Boston, Massachusetts studying Environmental Engineering and minoring in Biology. She is inspired by innovative sustainable design and novel technologies, and she seeks to engage her scientific interests with her design skills throughout her studies at Wash U. Outside of the SSF, Marissa plays for the university’s ultimate frisbee team WUWU Ironhorse, is training to be a Leadership through Service Pre-Orientation Counselor, and is part of Emerging Leaders. Her hobbies include hiking, soccer, knitting, and playing viola.

Hannah Davison
Committee Member

DSC_0414Hannah Davison is a junior from St. Louis, Missouri majoring in Intercultural and Area Studies with a concentration in Global Cultural Studies, and minoring in Korean. She just got back from her semester abroad in Seoul, South Korea and is excited to get involved in the green community at Wash U. Outside of SSF she is on the executive board for Korean Student Association and is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Her hobbies include listening to the Korean pop music (K-Pop), studying Korean, and doing Pilates.

Alexa Mendel
Committee Member


Alexa is a freshman from New York City who is planning on studying business and environmental policy.  She is very interested in sustainable businesses and the issues of pollution and clean energy.  Outside of SSF, she is involved in the Varsity Softball team, Net Impact, and Alpha Epsilon Phi.  



Sam Pointer
Committee Member

DSC_0434 (2)Sam Pointer is a freshman from St. Louis, Missouri who is planning on majoring in Leadership and Strategic Management as well as Environmental policy. The main issue that he cares about is climate change. He believes that renewables are the way of the future and he hopes to get into them one day. Sam is also the Co-Owner of a sports blog called Cardsblog, a member of Olin Peer Advisors, and is a tour guide.
